OBJECTIVE:

Create “a means to establish an understanding of each other.”

NARRATIVE:

Norms are unspoken rules that regulate a society’s life. They are carved out from shared beliefs, values and behaviour within a community and are uniquely set to that community. Hence, a norm celebrated by one might be rejected by another.

Picture an Asian household where tea reigns as an elixir for the soul. Here, the joyous sound of tea slurping symbolizes appreciation and enjoyment. But, in far-flung corners of the world, these notes of delight may enter ears that are less accustomed to such habit and practice, even finding it dissonant.

These diverging norms paint a portrait of human diversity. Yet, within its intricacies, there is an opportunity for understanding and compromise.

END:

The shallow design cools the tea, acknowledging the preference for a refreshing sip in certain cultures. Simultaneously, the cup's roof, thoughtfully shaped, embraces the richness of the tea's aroma, paying homage to the tradition of savouring the beverage's essence. This thoughtful fusion of form and function moulds into understanding, bridging norms and celebrating the diversity of tea-drinking practices worldwide.
